The Baby Cage
Stewart is getting stronger and more stable every day. While he's learning about gravity in a less painful manner, it has helped to do as I had not wanted to have to do - we got rid of furniture! We moved the couch to the window so Stewie could be seen from all directions of the downstairs. Then we temporarily put the coffee table in the basement. The stair gate has then been placed between the couches to create a safe climbing space. We can move it so that when we give him supervised free time to have the run of the house we don't have to worry about him taking a tumble down the stairs. He's moving much faster now in his crawl, mostly taking off to go after the dog. He uses most of his free time to climb kitchen chairs and the kitchen cupboards. He likes the baby cage most of the time. He loves using the gate's walls to practice standing and pulling up. He falls on his bum now more than his head, so I can leave him in there while I do dishes or laundry and still be able to see him and not be afraid he's going to permanently damage his brain or perfect little face. At his six month appointment on Monday the doctor assured me a fall from standing will not 'cause permanent brain damage... if he were to fall from the stairs, then we would need to worry. Speaking of his appointment, he is a healthy happy guy, growing and learning fabulously. He got his shots and only cried a for a second. And we got the okay to move on to three meals of pureed food a day, including fruits and meats, and can begin experimenting with easily gummable foods. Though we still need to introduce new foods individually because I have food allergies, so he may too. He had his first teething biscuit yesterday and loved it!
