How fun to have a three day weekend! Stewie played with Max in his cardboard house. They played next to each other, maybe fought a little less over toys... but boy did Stewie throw a fit when Maxy grabbed his blankie! We did some sledding. We watched the Inaugural concert and rocked out... and got a little teary. We finger painted and colored... that one's tough. Stewie really wants to eat his non-toxic Crayola toddler-starter markers. When we're not fighting about them being in his mouth he enjoys their magic, especially the color orange.
Stewie is developing other favorites. He also has an affinity to the letters "o" and "e," believe it or not. We're working on being able to identify them by name. Every morning those are the first letters he grabs off of the fridge to walk around with. He LOVES bananas and now says "na-na, na-na" over and over again. We've had to hide them in a cabinet otherwise he just points and yells about them all day long. One day we actually just let him keeping eating them.... all I can say is "ooey - gooey" on the other end. Our pediatrician assured us it was no biggie, and just a stage. On the other hand, he tried eggs for the first time and promptly chucked them on the floor. But, he is consistently signing "more" when he's wants more, or just whenever he wants food. As a matter of fact, he used the sign outside of the food situation, and signed "more" while sledding.
Speaking of the pediatrician Stewie had his one year check-up last week. He's a healthy, sturdy little man, as my mother-in-law would say! Though only in the 50th growth percentile... shocker shocker. He got his shots and was a trooper... had his blood taken and was a tough guy. When the results come back his doc will choose a vitamin for him. He's making the transition from formula to milk... which isn't going well. Any ideas? So far I've been watering it down and mixing a bit of formula in it. He'll take it then, in a bottle before bed. But drinking it during the day out of a sippy cup... not so much. He has stopped nursing as well. His choice. For those of you who share my mother's concern about well water, we have a RX for floride. A controversial choice... but we're going with it. Mostly because I know my father would be yelling at me if I didn't give it to him.
We're anxiously awaiting the big day tomorrow. Happy Inauguration day! Those of you in D.C., we want to hear the scoop! Stewie blows you all kisses now (though he actually just kisses his hand, he doesn't throw them yet). And if you were here, he'd give you a hug and a kiss. He's becoming quite an affectionate little man.
