Flowers, Worms and Rocks

What a wonderful week! We've been very busy cleaning up the yard, working on rock walls, and discovering the outside world. First there's Bocce Court Part Deux... finally the rock walls around Gus' garden are finished (Stewart loves to chuck the rocks), and we can reseed grass to have a real lawn. While cleaning out weeds and dead leaves and re-building those rock walls, Stewart discovered flowers blooming. He loved to smell them and pick them, unfortunately that means there are very few flowers left in the garden. We talked about picking them with the whole stem, so we could put them in a vase inside, instead of just popping off the tops. When we put a few in a vase inside, he cried because he couldn't hold them anymore. What's a mom to do? We had a ton of fun with worms too. He really liked watching them ('and helping them?) change from long and skinny to short and fat. He surely had a good time with his shovel and his trucks.

In strange news, Stewie had his first allergic reaction. I think the picture says it all. It didn't make him itchy, or bother him in anyway. I wouldn't have noticed it had he not spilled milk on his shirt and taken it off. So he could have developed it at another time, but all he'd had so far that morning was a bagel and o.j. He didn't have a fever. The doctor said to watch it and if it didn't go down in 24 hours to call her back. It went away. He was eating a granola cereal at the time, one that I with nut allergies can eat. It only had rolled oats and wheat germ in it. He eats wheat bread all of the time, so I'm kind of shocked. We'll just have to keep watching.

I've spent some good time on my hands and knees, and am trying to loosen my hips. Eliza is doing well and the midwives suggest doing lots of squats. They think Eliza should be a nice size, not too big, not too small, and with the proper stimulating of hormones by loosing my hips, combined with the fact that she's a second child, and a girl, she should be an earlier birth (or at least not as late as Stew) and quicker, if not easier. Gettin' close folks!!!
